Beer Jellies

“Instead of water, we got here a draught of beer…a lumberer’s drink, which would acclimate and naturalize a man at once — which would make him see green, and, if he slept, dream that he heard the wind sough among the pines.”

Choose a beer jelly to suit your taste . . . or that of the craft beer lover in your life!

Did you know? The “History of Beer” is the history of civilization. Some anthropologists believe that humankind transitioned from a hunter-gatherer existence to a settled agriculture-based existence largely to grow enough grain to brew large amounts of beer. From insects to elephants, from fruit bats to monkeys, virtually the entire animal kingdom is attracted to alcohol. Ripe fruit’s alluring scent alerts animals that it is full of sugar and ready to eat. When naturally present yeasts begin to consume the sugars, ripe fruit can become quite alcoholic!

Back to recent times, the 1970s and 1980s saw a renewal, first in England’s new microbreweries and then in the American West, of experimentation in beer. Inspired by Europe’s great traditions, American craft brewers took creativity in beer to an art form. Today most Americans live within 10 miles of a craft brewer!

Colorado Mountain Jam has taken advantage of three creative, local craft breweries — the Palisade Brewery, in Palisade, Colorado, and Kannah Creek Brewery and Rockslide Brewery in Grand Junction, Colorado — to give our customers four distinctive beer jellies. Just as with our wine jellies, we believe we have captured the unique characteristics of these individual craft beers. What do you think?
